Your responsibilities
as a patient if you are having a surgical procedure:
- You will need to be seen in the office of our listed
surgeons and scheduled for your elective surgery.
- Once date is scheduled, you must visit visit the
center 5-7 day prior to the date of your surgery for your physical
assessment and pre-operative testing determinations. Screenings
are done Monday through Friday between 9am and 2pm. Endoscopy patients
do not need to visit the Surgery Center prior to the date of the
procedure.
- We will require a detailed list of ALL medications you are taking prior to your visit. You may download the form from this site. Please bring this to the surgery center at the time of your pre-op visit or in the case of endoscopy fax to 570-424-7310.
- LISTEN CAREFULLY to all instructions given by both
your surgeon's office and the surgery center. It is important NOT
to eat or drink for a specified time before your procedure.
- Arrange transportation in ADVANCE for the day of
surgery. You must have a designated driver to take you home the
day of the surgery. Failure to comply with this requirement will
result in postponement of your surgery.
- Make sure you UNDERSTAND THE SURGICAL PROCEDURE
and all preparation and postoperative care involved. This information
will be provided by the SURGEON who performs the surgery and by
his/her office.
- Children under the age of 18 will be required to
have an adult at the surgery center with the child for the entire
length of stay.
- You may be required to see a medical doctor for
clearance prior to having ambulatory surgery.
- If there is ANY change in your physical condition
before your surgery, even a mild cold or flu, contact your surgeon
immediately.
